Lia Sophia and Other Notes

I want to tell everyone about my exciting/scary new challenge. I became an advisor for Lia Sophia jewelry. It is some really cool jewelry, which is hip, affordable and has a lifetime guarantee. Everyone I have talked to just raves about it.

I went to a party last week and really liked the product. I talked to the advisor at the party as she told me she thought I would be a good rep, so I looked into it and decided to try it. It is minimal investment so if it doesn't work out, then I have some nice jewelry, but I am hoping that it is just a fun, social thing for me. I also hope that it will provide me the challenge I have been missing professionally for a while. If you would like to learn more about the company or see the jewelry, visit liasophia.com.

I am hosting my first Open House on March 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at my house, so if you would like to attend, please come by. Also, if you are interested in being a hostess for a party, let me know that too. Hostesses receive some really great stuff at a very discounted price (like 70% off on some pieces). Plus, it is just a fun way to get friends and family together. There is no pressure to buy. Like I said, I am in it more for the social aspect than anything. It is not like I am going to get rich off of it at all. :)

I am also trying to set up a babysitting coop with the families at Reagan's daycare, in addition to trying to organize three tennis teams for the summer season. I have become the queen of organizing social activities so that has been taking a lot of my time. I like it though. It makes me feel useful and needed. :)

That is my news. Reagan has a little cold, but she is doing good. Andrew had a hockey game tonight and won 7-1. He had an assist. His team is in first place again and in prime position for another championship run and possibly another bobblehead doll trophy. He also has had a bunch of Timberwolves games in the past 10 days so that has been keeping everyone busy.

Sunday is the start of Celebrity Apprentice - another one of my favorite reality TV shows. I thought the celebrity twist was a great addition for the last Apprentice and am pretty excited about this season. They were able to secure way better celebrities for this than Dancing with the Stars did (I would have loved to have seen Dennis Rodman on Dancing With The Stars!).

Speaking of Dancing...it is only 1 week until the start of Season 8. There has been high drama so far as Jewel and Gilles Marini have already suffered injuries that are threatening their participation on the show. Or at least that is what they are leaking out there to keep it on people.com. I am sure everyone will be healthy and ready to go come March 9.

I have some new photos of Reagan that I need to post. I will do that this week some time.

Only 2 weeks until we head to Phoenix. We cannot wait. My sister and her family will also be there so it will be a good time for everyone.

New photos of Reagan

There is really nothing new to report, but I thought I would post some new photos of Reagan for the grandparents. We went to the Timberwolves game on Friday night and then Saturday to Chuck E. Cheese again.

Reagan at the T-Wolves game - look Troy Murphy is in the background...

Andrew had a hockey game this weekend and scored the game-winning goal in their big win against the second-place team. His team is in first so the magic number countdown has started. Andrew also got an iphone this weekend so I didn't really see too much of him while he was locked away trying to get all the "stuff" downloaded on it.

Lisa watched the Academy Awards and loved the fashion (Jennifer Aniston was the best dressed in my mind, although I also loved Kate Winslett - how can you not - and Alicia Keys' dress.). I was disappointed the Mickey Rourke did not win, although I knew that was going to happen. I know now I have to see Slumdog Millionaire. It just dominated the night. I also thought Hugh Jackman was good and I was shocked that Anne Hathaway had such an awesome voice.

Oh...when we went to the flower show last weekend, Reagan met Miss Capital City as is now appearing on her web site. Here is a photo of the meeting:

Only three weeks until we are headed to Arizona. I cannot wait. I need a break from a lot of things right now so it will be much welcomed.

Dancing With The Stars Pairings

Even though I am still really disappointed with the "Stars," they announced the pairings for Season 8 of Dancing With The Stars today.

Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska
Actor Gilles Marini and two-time DWTS champ Cheryl Burke
Rapper Lil’ Kim and season seven champ Derek Hough
Actress Denise Richards and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Pop star Belinda Carlisle and Jonathan Roberts
Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and season six champ Mark Ballas
Reality star Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer
Rodeo star Ty Murray and first-time Dancing pro Chelsie Hightower
Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff
Country singer Chuck Wicks and two-time champ Julianne Hough
Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell and Tony Dovolani
Actor David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson
Singer Jewel and first-time Dancing pro Dmitry Chaplin

Andrew will be happy that Edyta is with Lawrence Taylor because the athletes always do well and so that means that she should be on longer than one week this season. Her husband is not on this season...bummer.

They obviously want Shawn Johnson and Lil' Kim to go a long way. They are definitely the favorites and were given the best partners (besides Chuck Wicks...you cannot get better than Julianne. They will probably win since everyone will think they are so cute, blah, blah, blah.).

Lil Kim and Derek will definitely be the most arrogant couple out there. She is annoying and he is so beyond that. That will be a painful pair for me.

Lacey Schwimmer must have something going on since she was paired with Steve-O. He will not last long.

Interesting that Ty Murray and Jewel were both paired with first-time pro dancers.

Poor Karina, but I guess she does have a wedding to plan. She will be done soon so then she can keep her eye on that husband-stealing tramp Denise Richards, who is dancing with Maks. I will admit that I am thrilled that he is back!

Gilles is the next Christian, while Tony also danced with Leeza Gibbons, if I remember correctly. Refer to my previous post about the season

OK...I am going to watch. What a surprise.

Reagan The Writer

OK...I am going to start this by saying that yes I am bragging about my really smart kid. I know I probably shouldn't do this, but I am a proud mom. I also know that this love of learning could turn at any point so I need to enjoy it now just in case it changes somewhere down the road. Plus it helps me cope with the fact she is still not potty trained and still has no interest which still stresses me out.

I think I have mentioned that Reagan has graduated from the pre-school curriculum at daycare and is the youngest ever at that daycare to start kindergarten work. She is very proud that she is doing kindergarten work. I don' t really know what that all means, but the other night I got my first taste as to what Marcy and Gary have been telling me in terms of how smart she is.

I was working on a project and she was sitting next to me drawing pictures - the one with the curly hair above is me (I guess it is pretty good that she can even draw a smiley face at her age, let alone add curly hair and arms, etc.). I said to her, "Can you write my name?" - of course joking and I started saying the letters L-I-S-A. Well, I looked over at her paper and there is was L-I-S-A in perfect form. I could not believe it! Then I asked her if she could spell Andrew. Not quite in line like my name, but if you look, every letter was there. It was amazing. I had no idea that she could make her letters already, let alone do it with me just saying them. I was telling Marcy about it and she said that they work on letters, but they she did not know that she could make them after people said them either.

She also is learning to spell and last night spelled cat and every word that rhymed with it with no issues. And of course, she can spell her name and Minnesota (I knew the Rouser would come in handy one day! Chris Voelz would be so proud.).

Anyway...pictured are the samples of her work. You would all be very proud of my not-so-little- baby-anymore. She is really a piece of work.

On a sadder note, we found out that Andrew's paternal grandma's cancer has returned and she is too weak to operate. It is only a matter of time so please keep her and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep you updated.

It is a big weekend with Valentine's Day on Friday/Saturday and then Andrew's birthday on Sunday. Reagan is really into Valentine's Day this year so that has been fun and she is really excited about her party at school. We, of course, have no plans, but it is fun to see her so excited about it.

Dancing With The Stars Season 8

So the list from People Magazine was definitely a dream list as I could not be more disappointed in the cast named thus far for Season 8 of Dancing With The Stars (although there are still 5 more to go so maybe it will get better). It is definitely a who's who of troublemakers and B-List celebrities so far except for Shawn Johnson who is the only one I am excited about (although it would have been 10 times better if it would have be Nasty!).

Here is the run down of the Season 8 cast. I have not found where it names who they will be dancing with, but I am sure this will be the buzz of the internet tomorrow - well, besides A-Rod (who couldn't see that coming from a mile away) and of course Chris Brown and Rihanna (no surprise there either).

Season 8 Celebrities (or so they think they are)
1. Lil Kim - singer... she was just released from jail after spending a year in the slammer on perjury charges for covering up a murder. Nice. I think she has also been in rehab recently as well. It will be interesting to see her little claw tattoos right above her clevage in those costumes. If it doesn't work out for her on this show, I am sure Dr. Drew will take her at Celebrity Rehab.

2. Steve O - Reality star from MTV's Jackass who was committed for observation because of his suicidal tendencies in the past year, not to mention his multiple arrests for cocaine possession. Nice. For anyone who knows me and has heard me complain endlessly about the fact that I think MTV is ruining America, you can probably figure out how I feel about this "celebrity". Hopefully he will be the next Jeffrey Ross and off the show early!

3. Nancy O'Dell - talk show host - She is pretty, but falls in the Leeza Gibbons category. She will be off by week 4 or 5 at the latest. At least she has not been in jail or to rehab.

4. Lawrence Taylor - ex-football player - Another fine, upstanding citizen for the show. He has done endless cocaine, declared for bankruptcy, is illiterate and is just not a good person. What is going on with this show. These are the best people they could get? I am not excited for him at all. Really, Mickey Rourke's role in "The Wrestler" could have been written about him, but I digress. Where is Charles Barkley that you teased me with - not that he is any better of a citizen, but at least he is funny.

5. Shawn Johnson - Olympic gymnast - Finally...She is super cute and will be on the show for a long time whether she can dance or not. She has an electric personality and will be a fan favorite immediately. I am excited about her and hopefully Nastia will at least attend a few of the shows. Note: After seeing all of the celebrities, unless she is the worst dancer ever, there is no chance that she will not win.

6. Chuck Wicks - Country Singer and boyfriend of Julianne Hough - you cannot get Julianne so you might as well get the closest thing to her. At least that will ensure that she will come back to the show a few times and dance. He is cute and it does take care of a musical guest for the results show early in the season. I am guessing that Julianne has already given him a few dance lessons so he should be OK.

7. Gilles Marini - actor - I had to look up who he was. I did not see Sex and the City the Movie but I guess he lived next door to Kim Cattrell's character. He is good looking and French. He might be the Christian of this season. I wonder if he is dancing with Cheryl Burke.

8. Denise Richards - actress - She is the Brooke Burke of this year's cast. She is beautiful and will look great in the costumes, but her rep is less than stellar in the past couple of years - stealing Heather Locklear's husband, being married to Charlie Sheen, her reality show. Too bad they couldn't get Heather to do the show as well. There would have been some definite catfights that broke out there. Maybe Charlie will crash the results show one week to really add some excitement. At least I know Charlie will be at the parties that are sure to happen with all of these people together and in the same room. Dr. Drew will be able to do another season of Celebrity Rehab with this cast.

I am still waiting for the final five to be revealed...they just named the next three...still not excited.

Steve Wozniak - co founder of Apple Computers - Not really sure what to say about this one. I know that they will talk about the iphone endlessly and Andrew will really be all over me about buying one for him. I am thinking it was probably a good thing he came up with the iphone idea because I do not see him being on the show long unless one of their programmers can come up with a way that every time someone makes a call with their iphone, it registers a vote on his behalf. I am sure they are working on that as I type.

Belinda Carlisle - singer - I like the Go Go's but that is about all the excitement I can muster for her being on the show. She also has been to rehab. Andrew was excited about the fact that she also appeared in Playboy, along with Denise Richards, so....Another musical guest down the road, along with Lil' Kim and Chuck Wicks.

David Alan Grier - I do not think he is funny so that is a bad start. He used to be the third member of Dr. Drew's Loveline so there is the in for setting up the next season of Celebrity Rehab.

Wow...just rereading this, I have to wonder if I am going to even watch the show. Besides Shawn Johnson, there is not one person I care to see on it. That is so depressing as I was really looking forward to this season and thought they could get some really great stars. Sadly, this show is one of the things I really look forward to, but ....

I am also wondering if they are bringing Samatha "One of Us" Harris back. I was surprised that she was not on the promos they have been running all night. I cannot stand her to hear her talk, although I love to see what she is wearing. She does have the best dresses, but they went way too wacky on her hair last season. She is really beautiful. I would love her job just for the dresses.

OK...the final two. These have to be big or this will be a lost season for me.

The husband and wife team of Ty Murray and Jewel. Really? Jewel is really cute and should be OK. Ty Murray has no personality at all. He was super boring when I watched his celebrity bullriding show. I am guessing he will not last long. I guess having a husband/wife compete against each other was the selling point there.

That was not the homerun I was looking for so I am officially disappointed beyond belief about the Season Eight cast. I might be making the switch now to American Idol or just hoping the Sober House has about 20 more episodes in the can.

What a bummer.

Waiting With Anticipation!

I am starting to get really excited as the Season 8 cast of Dancing With The Stars should be announced any day. With the show starting on March 2 and 3, it could be one of the best seasons yet ...and it will give me something to blog about these days since my life and Reagan's life are pretty status quo right now, which is not a bad thing in these bad economic times.

Today on People.com (imagine that I read that web site every day), there was a dream list of potential cast members for Season 8. The list was a good one and if they were to land some of these people, it would make for great TV. I would love to see Regis and Kathie Lee, as well as Nick Lachey. Danielle Steele would be intriguing as would Charles Barkley (since if I could have dinner with any three people in the world, he would be one of them).

Nothing much else to report in our lives. We made the party circuit over the weekend, which was a good time for all of us. Here is a photo of my little princess at Chuck E. Cheese. Skating lessons did not go so well for Reagan after she fell and hit her head on the ice so we stopped going to them (maybe next year). We are just trying to stay warm until we head to Phoenix in March (can't wait for that).
