Texas Two Step

We are back from Texas after six days in what was not very nice weather. Oh well, it was better than being in -12 which is what it was this morning when I walked Corby - and that was not even the windchill.

Texas was a good time. We arrived on Friday and let Ava and Reagan get to know each other again. It took about 5 minutes before the two cousins became inseperable. They played great together and had so much fun. At one point, Ava stuck up for Reagan by telling some bigger kids "Be nice to Reagan, she is my cousin," at McDonald's Playland. She also was pretty sad when Reagan got on the plane to come home yesterday. There were plenty of tears. Reagan also loved being with her Grandma and Grandpa.

The wedding of Mike Smith and Alli Parrott was a nice event. It was a Houston Society wedding with the reception at the Junior League of Houston, so it was pretty fancy. It was great to see all of our friends while we were there. That is the great thing about Notre Dame - people will travel from all over the world to come together for special occassions or just to visit. As Andrew said, "That is just what we do." In our group alone, we had people from Washington D.C., Virginia, Florida, Chicago, Minneapolis and Cincinnati. It was a lot of fun and we look forward to the next time we all get together - which is always sooner than later.

After a stop to see my friend Hilary (another Golden Domer) in Houston, we returned to Dallas and basically had two days of playing with the kids. Monday was spent at Chuck E. Cheese (Reagan's first trip and I am sure it will not be her last). Tuesday we went to the Stock Show, but all of the animals were gone as is was a transition day (I am not sure if they get tired of people staring at them or what) so we went to McDonald's instead and then to a Dallas Stars/Columbus Blue Jackets hockey game that night. The girls were the talk of the arena in their Dallas Stars jerseys and their hairbows and hockey sticks. The rest of the time was spent in Ava's "playroom." I think Reagan died and went to heaven in there!

Now it is back to reality, although Reagan did not miss a beat this morning as I dropped her off at daycare and she screamed out "Hi Lana," as I opened the front door. It is such a good feeling knowing that she loves her friends at daycare!

Gotta "go, go, go,"

Winter Wonderland: Part 2

On Sunday, it was 35 degrees (heat wave) here so we took the whole family out to the local park to go walking and sledding with Crystal, Andy and Sara. Reagan got to wear her "mitts" (mittens) and boots, so she was happy. Corby got to play with his dog friends, so he was happy. Andrew and I got out of the house, so we were happy. I am not sure how Crystal, Sara and Andy were since going to the park with a dog and a two-year-old limits what you can do in someways, although we all managed to sled down the hills a couple of times. Reagan also got to "wee" (swing) at the park. It was a fun day.
