Dancing With The Stars Week 7

Just a quick update from last night's Dancing With The Stars. Jason was unbelievably hot last night. His QuickStep was awesome, and his Paso was pretty good too considering the hokey music. Andrew was a big fan of Edyta's cheerleading costume as well. Jason was definitely the highlight of the evening.

I am really torn as to who is going to get kicked off this week. I think Christian is going to be safe because people will feel sorry for him after his injury last night. The only way he will get kicked off is if his injury is too bad for him to continue next week. It was kind of crazy though - like a snowball that just kept getting bigger and bigger. That is the intrigue of live TV I guess. It was really uncomfortable.

The person who should really go is Shannon. Her first dance was good - her best of the year - but her second was terrible and so disrespectful. Setting up in front of the judges and shaking it in their face just because you were mad about what they said about you last week was childish and disrespectful. I hope she gets voted off because she is whiney and rude. I am tired of her. She and Derek can go ride off into the sunset together. Ick.

Kristi was solid once again and I think she is still going to win, although Jason is so hot that the female population is definitely going to vote for him. We will see how they really determine a champion - since I think the show is fixed, Kristi will win.

Marissa really needs to go, but she has improved. I think it will be her turn next week. Mario - whatever - he could go too. He is boring, although Karina's dress for the first dance was gorgeous.

That is the update. We will see what happens.

Reagan update

First of all...bye, bye to Marlee. It was sad to see her leave Dancing With The Stars. :(

I have been bad about putting new photos of Reagan on the site, but before I do that, I need to share a story about her. We were at the Twins game on Sunday and it was the bottom of the eighth, tied 1-1 and the Twins had 2 runners on and two outs. So the most important time of the game and she turns to me and says, "I need to go potty!" I knew she didn't as she has never said that to me outside of our home, so I just acted like I did not hear her. She says it again and I make a joke saying, "Reagan, this is the most important part of the game. I know you do not need to go." So she turns around and the next thing I know, she takes her pants off right there and says really loud, "I need to go potty!" OK, OK...so I take her up and, of course, miss Morneau's at-bat.

We get to the potty, I put her on there and she says "Diaper all dry mama!" I wanted to scream! So not only did I look like the worst parent in the world, but then I missed Morneau's at-bat (he grounded out thankfully).

That, of course, is not the end of the story. We go back to our seats and not even 10 minutes later, she fills her diaper and we have to take her back up and change her. Of course, the Twins go on to win and Andrew misses the end of the game (which was good for him since they were playing his beloved Indians). Daily trials and tribulations of life with a 2-year-old.

Anyway...no big plans for the weekend. We will probably just go swimming at the club since it is supposed to be snowing. I have a monster cold again. My second in three weeks so we will see how much I actually do.

Enjoy the photos. The first photo of Reagan laying on the couch reading SI makes both her mom and dad so proud. The spoon trick she learned at daycare. All the kids before they can eat lunch have to hang the spoon on their noses. Thirdly, Reagan loves grapes and I have to be careful because if I turn my back for even a second, she is stealing them out of the container (of course standing on her potty chair - which she never uses except to steal stuff off the counter...can you sense some frsutration). Finally, Reagan enjoyed watching a Poison concert with her mom last Sunday. Look out, she might be on Rock of Love 20! Let's hope not!

Hard Decision Tonight!

It will be a hard (and maybe sad) elimination decision on Dancing With the Stars tonight.

In my mind, sadly Marlee should go, but it is so amazing that she can dance like that not being able to hear the music. Not to mention the fact that she looks absolutely amazing and is giving Edyta and Karina a run for the best body title these days (I need to have a stomach like that). The last two weeks have been really hard for Marlee as she has really struggled. She has missed turns and stumbled through her last two routines and has looked so uncomfortable and almost defeated. I think she still will get a lot of votes because of her deafness, but really she should be the one to go tonight.

The other bad dance last night was Shannon. I don't like her and have been so disappointed with her the entire season. She looks so awkward and I think they have not been doing her justice on the hair, make-up and costumes either. For being a former Maxim girl, I do not think she has looked very good this year. I think she survives this week because of all the additional publicity she and Derek have received with their budding romance. People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight, in addition to myself, are all over this story. If they get voted off, what will these two pubs (or myself) talk about since there are not really any other romances blooming between the dancers this season.

Kristi was the best again and will win. She was so cute and she and Mark make a good dancing couple.

Jason and Edyta were alright. I agree about the arms on Jason (at least we got to see them last night with the sleeveless shirt - way better than the sweater). He just does not know what to do with them when they are down. He has tremendous extension when he lifts them, but when they are down, they look so awkward. I wish the Vikings would trade for him - selfishly, I am hoping this deal for the KC guy falls through so Jason is back in the picture). Andrew liked Edyta's outfit (or lack of) again. They were the first couple to go so when they were done last night, Andrew asked if we needed to watch anymore!

Mario, Christian and Hairspray girl were good as well and should be safe, although if it is truly based on votes, then Christian and Hairspray girl might be in trouble since they are the least popular of the remaining people. There is a reason Christian has been in the bottom two twice already - although it could be that he is weird and overbearing. Hairspray girl is annoying as well.

That is my report for the week. One thing I forgot to mention is that the 100th show is coming up and they promised that such favorites as Helio (love him), Mario Lopez and Maks (really love him), in addition to Julianne, are coming back to perform on that show. That will be great and add some excitement to the season. Honestly, it has been a little boring this year.

Shannon and Derek Sitting In A Tree

Dancing With the Stars is really becoming predictable. Not only did Pricilla get the boot this week (no surprise), but I am vindicated today in this photo which was just released on People.com (my other favorite Web site. I feel like Jose Canseco minus the steroids.

I knew something was going on with them. It was just so obvious. I really should be an entertainment reporter like the new chick on the Real World (although she is so dumb - I cannot believe I watched that on Wednesday. That show is what is wrong with our society.) Anyway... I cannot wait until Monday.

It has been a pretty quiet week for the Mushetts. Reagan is really struggling between wanting to be a baby and a big girl. She has been in tears most of the week making her mom and dad just as frustrated as she is. She also seems to hate being at home and cries whenever we are there. I don't know if she misses her friends at daycare or the chance to play with them or what, but as soon as we get to daycare, she is happy and like today goes to sit in Marcy's lap and says, "Bye Lisa." (Yes, I am once again Lisa and not mommy.)

We joined Life Time Fitness today hoping that will help solve some of this crying. With its huge pool and daycare center, we think this might be a good thing for her. I know what some of you are thinking, "If she wasn't an only child and had a brother or sister...." Sometimes I think that too and then I think we need a bigger house before that even becomes a serious thought.

The other big news of the week is that we bought a Dyson vacuum. For those of you who have one, you understand when I say they are to die for. For all of you that are thinking, "Lisa, you used to be so fun," I know what you are feeling and I feel your pain.

I am going through midlife crisis I think. I used to be fun. I know things change as people get older, get married, have kids, but it makes me sad that buying a new vacuum (it is a great vacuum) is the highlight of the week.

No big plans this weekend except our first Twins (or in Andrew's case, Indians game) this season at the Dome. Corby is sick so he has an appointment at the vet tonight. Hopefully he is OK. Stomach problems just like his mom and grandpa.

Anyway...Shannon and Derek...I knew it!

Pricilla's Last Dance

Tonight was probably Pricilla's last dance. She was terrible and should be the next to go. I also thought Marissa, Marlee and Shannon were just average so I guess there could be room for an upset, but I think Pricilla will go.

Mario and Karina started the show and were very good. Karina's costume was almost nothing, and she looked amazing. Her abs are to die for. She also went about three shades darker on the spray tan tonight, but still looked amazing.

Kristi was fabulous once again. It is amazing how she performs even when she is out of her element like she was tonight.

Jason and Edyta were very good as well, although Jason would have received 10s if he would have not worn a sweater to dance in. Are you kidding me? A sweater with that body? Bad wardrobe choice by him tonight. Andrew also thought Edyta had too many clothes on, although he noticed that her white outfit was see through when she finally danced so that appeased him.

I really think Shannon is not very good. She is so tall and lanky that she is extremely awkward. I still think there is something going on between her and Derek. Entertainment Tonight thinks that too. Hmmmm.

Christian was fine. I still do not like him.

That is the update for tonight. We will see what happens tomorrow.

Adam Has to Go!

Last night's episode of Dancing With The Stars was really good. Everyone (except Adam) did a good or great job and there were a number of excellent performances last night - including five 10s given by the judges.

Leading the way were Jason and Edyta. Although Jason stumbled, I thought it was beautiful. Edyta was absolutely stunning and Jason looked incredible. They were fantastic. Jason might not be the best dancer, but he and Edyta make a really stunning couple and they are awesome to watch.

Kristi was excellent again as well. She is still the one to beat as she does not have any flaws. I am waiting for a dance to really trip her up, but so far she has been great. Note: Hockey-playing husband Bret Hedican was in the crowd now that the Hurricanes missed the playoffs.

Cheryl and Christian were also very good (he does keep improving although he still bugs me) and Shannon and Derek were good too. I think there is something going on between Shannon and Derek. There was a moment at the end of their waltz where it looked like they were about to passionately kiss each other, but then they caught themselves just in time. Interesting.... Also, I thought it was interesting when they showed the opening of Cheryl's dance studio, the first guest they showed at the party was none other than Drew Lachey. That certainly will not stop of the rumors of their alledged affair. Hmmmmm. Probably should have kept him out of it.

Pricilla was pretty, Marlee was beautiful. Marissa was much better, but still not great and Mario and Kareena were fine - not great. Actually they have taken a few steps back and might leave earlier than I thought.

That leaves Adam. He was terrible and hardly danced. The unicycle at the beginning was cool, but you can tell they both just want it to be over. I think Adam finally buried himself with his off-color joke about the vaseline and the Kristi Yamaguchi eyes. No one knew how to react and it was probably better that no one reacted at all. To prevent further embarassment to the show and potential lawsuits, Adam will meet his maker tonight and he can go on and promote his movie. Julianne will be relieved as you can see how uncomfortable she is around him. It is just time for it to end.

The Stanley Cup Resides At The Mushetts

Yes, it is true. The Stanley Cup of AHA Beginner Hockey (or at least this crazy bobblehead doll trophy) resides at the Mushetts, as Andrew and his Chaos teammates won the championship last night 7-5.

After falling behind 3-0, Chaos got on the board with a goal by none other than Andrew - a shorthanded goal at that - to rally the troops who looked to be down and out to a much tougher opponent (supposedly they have two ringers on their team). After giving up another goal to the Vipers (they just sound mean don't they), Chaos outscored them 6-1 in claiming the title.

The real story of the game though was the Vipers only had 11 skaters. Then their best player (one of the ringers) broke his skate and did not have a replacement pair of skates (another lesson for all you beginning hockey players). I guess they were pretty tired by the end of the game and Chaos took advantage.

Andrew finished the game with a goal and two assists and his centerman had three goals and two assists so Andrew was at least +5. I did not ask how many goals he was on the ice for, so we will just say he was a +5.

I am sure he will be autographing merchandise and selling a commemorative magazine for $19.99 celebrating their big season.

Reagan's Gone Postal!

Here are some cute photos of Reagan from daycare yesterday. She is really liking her new daycare so that makes us feel so much better. I think Marcy and Gary really like her too. Enjoy.

Don't Forget About Corby

I feel bad about posting a family photo and not including Corby so here is an update on him. He is still the same. Big and fat (about 140 pounds or so now), suffering from big, black dog syndrome and getting in trouble. In case you do not know what big, black dog syndrome is, it refers to the discrimination that big, black dogs face because people are automatically scared of them. They are always the last dogs to be adopted and people appraoch them and treat them differently. You can read about it in People Magazine (and you thought I did not learn anything reading that.

I cannot wait until we can get him outside and running around again. Andrew does a really good job of walking him in the winter, but we need to get him on a training program. He is just toooooooo big.

Anyway, this is a photo of him at daycare. Yes, he goes to daycare once a week. He has been banned from the pool because he gets too crazy and the people cannot control him, but overall, it is a really good thing for him and tires him out for about a day and a half. Can you believe he fit under this table?

Steve Guttenberg Is Gone

No surprise the Steve Guttenberg is gone, although I thought he was charming in his own way. Marissa better bring something next week or she will be the next to go.

Here is a new Mushett Family photo that I thought was cute. This was taken at a Minnesota Swarm lacrosse game. When we got there, Reagan said "Hockey, mama." I replied, "Well, kind of." She had a good time and got to say "Goaaaaaaaaal" a lot as the score was 13-7.

Another update...Reagan is doing great at her new daycare and looks to have finally transitioned. She gets excited about seeing Marcy and Gary and looks forward to when they can go outside and make snow angels. She has also learned how to use the mouse on their computer and is learning all of her letters and playing "Peek a Boo" where she gets to feed a dog lots of food.

Dancing With The Stars Week 3

I am not sure my predicted order of finish is going to hold true tonight as I said Adam Carolla would be the next to go. Although he was not great, he was certainly better than the previous two weeks and his jokes after he danced were hilarious. That, and being partnered with Julianne, should save him, but I guess you never know.

If I was a betting woman, Hairspray girl Marissa would have to be the one to go tonight. She was so boring. I agreed with the judges that Tony's chorography was terrible and that he might be selling her short, but then again, I really haven't seen much talent with her which is strange considering she is a broadway actress and danced all the time in Hairspray. Her tears and pitiful pleas just might save her, but I am thinking no and that she is going to be the next to go tonight.

Otherwise, I thought the judges were right on most of the night. Kristi showed once again why she is going to win. Pricilla was the second best dancer last night. She has really surprised me with her grace and ability. Mario and Jason were good - not great. Marlee was also good - but not great. Steve and Christian were better - although Christian still bothers me as he looks like an out-of-control lion. The one person I did not agree with the judges on was Shannon - she was good, but also looked really stiff and her dancing was somewhat forced. I would have probably given her a 7 rather than the 8s and 9s she received. But like she said, it is hard to move those long legs doing the Jive and Derek did a great job with the chorography.

We will see what happens, but I think Hairspray girl is gone.

p.s. - I am back at work although I am still pretty sick. The drugs are starting to kick in though. Whew!
