More Wedding Photos

Here are a couple more photos from the big day (I know my mom will want to see these)! Sara and Andy looked great and everything was just lovely. They got married in the Fort Snelling Chapel, which was just gorgeous. I am walking down the aisle with the groom's dad, who was also a reader.

More Wedding Bliss

Here are a couple of funny photos of Reagan from the rehearsal dinner. Reagan adores Andy as you can tell in this photo as she sits at his feet (see below). The other photo is of Sara's nephew Quentin and Reagan as they share center stage at the dinner.

The two became fast friends until Quentin ran right over Reagan and took her out like a linebacker. Unfortunately, Q got the worst of it as he bit his lip, while Reagan bounced right back up from the huge hit! Brad Childress would have been proud of both the hit and Reagan's toughness!

Wedding Bliss

So I am happy to report that everything went great with Andy and Sara's wedding and they are now husband and wife (or Sara and Andy as they said at the end of the service because Sara is not taking his name). I survived my reading, although I sounded very nervous. You would think reading a children's book would be much easier than reading the Bible, but trust me it isn't. I don't know what it is about reading something from a piece of paper, but I am terrible at it. I could go up in front of a group of people and talk off the cuff for 20 minutes with no problem, but ask me to read something written on a piece of paper and I am in trouble... it must be my Texas education at work. :) Here is a photo of the happy couple and one of Crystal, Sara and I.

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key. We went swimming with Reagan on Friday night. Sunday, we just ran errands and watched car racing. Reagan needed new shoes and then we figured out that all of her clothes are too nice to wear to daycare so we needed to buy some grungy clothes (which killed me). Monday we shampooed our carpets to see how bad they really are. Actually, they cleaned up pretty nice, which was a relief considering we keep talking about trying to sell our townhouse and move to a bigger house. I just don't think we can afford it. Finally, we went over to our friends' house, Bob and Elaine, for dinner with their family. Reagan had a great time as you have never seen anything funnier than Reagan and Bob dancing outside together.

We have another busy weekend ahead of us as we leave Friday for Wisconsin to see Andrew's cousin Kyle graduate from high school. His whole family is going to be there so Reagan will get to see her Grandma Kate and Aunt Alison again this weekend (twice in three weeks), as well as the rest of the family.

Nothing else really to report. We have gone 10 whole days with no passie for Miss Reagan. I think we might be through the worst, although she did ask for it last night. One bad thing is that she has switched her dependence from the passie to the DVD player as she has to watch movies 24-7. Not good either, since I have seen Strawberry Shortcake, Suzy Shelton and Hunchback of Notre Dame about 20 times in the past week. We either need to break the habit or buy more movies.

Kristi Wins

I missed the show until the very end, but it was the most anticlimatic final show ever. Kristi was the best from the very first week and deserved to win. I was surprised that Jason beat out Cristian, but I am glad. Cristian bugged me. Now that the show is over, what am I going to do this summer?

Tonight is the final American Idol as well. I have not been as into that, although I am up on all the people. Since I missed the show last night, I cannot say who will win, although I think David Cook will prevail. I heard David Archuletta was the best last night so we will see. The season is just too long. Dancing With the Stars is the perfect time frame - 11 weeks.

Big weekend ahead with Sara's wedding. Should be a lot of fun. I need to practice my reading.

Reagan is still passie-free although I think we might have to give in and give it to her at night. She keeps waking up in the middle of the night and then stays up for 2-3 hours at a time watching movies. I watch Hunchback of Notre Dame twice the other night and Andrew got to watch Suzi Shelton and Gymboree TV for two hours last night. Andrew and I need a full night's sleep so we will see what he decides to do.

Kristi Outshines the Competition

Kristi was by far the winner of the Dancing With The Stars danceoff last night. She dominated in the Cha-Cha Faceoff and her freestyle was awesome. She should definitely win, and by all online polls I have seen, she will. Cristian will be second and Jason third.

Jason and Edyta's freestyle was really good except for the end when they missed the lift. Finally though, Jason took his shirt off. He has to get some extra votes for that. I waited all season for that. They are just a stunning couple.

Cristian and Cheryl were good too. I thought you could really see that he was only using one arm last night, but they were still good. It was a great season.

I have a tennis match tonight so I will miss the show, but there really is no doubt as to who will win tonight.

I am not sure what to make of this, but when we were watching the show last night, Reagan wanted to dance, but asked that we take her shirt off so she could perform. I didn't really know what to think about that and you could imagine how horrified her father was. I'm not sure if she wanted to be like Edyta or if I should be nervous about what her future line of work might be when she turns 18. Ugh! Maybe it is a good thing the season is coming to an end!

The Big Day Is Here

The big day has finally arrived with the finale of Dancing With The Stars. I think Kristi will win, but it should be very exciting. I cannot wait to see Jason.

The weekend was busy for the Mushetts as I had to work on Friday night and Saturday morning. On Saturday morning, I was at a Tennis Block Party and Andrew and Reagan came for a few minutes. Above is a photo of Reagan from the event.

After seeing Made of Honor on Saturday afternoon and a BBQ on Saturday night with friends at our house to celebrate Sara and Andy's wedding this coming weekend, we spent our anniversary basically doing errands. After church, I stained our patio set, while Andrew fixed my Ipod. We then went to the Lynx season opener (they are much better) and returned home in time for the last hour of Desperate Housewives. Good episode.

Perhaps the biggest news of the weekend is that Reagan has gone 4 days with no passie. She has been crabby and bedtime has been much harder both during the day and at night, but I think we might have finally rid ourselves of the passie! Yeah! Now if she would get interested again in potty training!

Another busy week ahead as Saturday is the wedding. Thursday is the rehearsal (I am reading), Friday is getting the flowers ready (my friends is doing them) and then Saturday I have to deliver all the flowers to the appropriate places, as well as help set up the reception hall. It will be a beautiful weekend.

Back From Ohio

I am super busy at work right now so I will keep this short and sweet. We went to Ohio for Mother's Day weekend to visit Andrew's side of the family. We saw everyone including grandma Kate, grandpa Chris, great grandma Joanne and great grandpa Charlie, Aunt Alison, more aunt and uncles and great grandma Jan. It was a busy weekend, but a lot of fun as I think they all enjoyed seeing Reagan in all of her glory as the center of attention (she definitely gets that from her mom).

After stopping in Chicago Thursday night and staying with Avani, we then drove the rest of the way on Friday, stopping at Notre Dame for a couple of hours (had to see the new swag in the bookstore and get the latest in football scheduling news) and then headed to Norwalk. We went to the Indians game Friday night (they won) and they had awesome fireworks after the game. Saturday and Sunday, we spent time with all of the relatives. Sunday night we drove back to Avani's and caught up with the Notre Dame gang for a little wine and dinner (Avani, I owe you a bunch of wine!). It was a great night. Finally on Monday, we headed back to MSP, but stopped to see great grandma Jan in Mauston for lunch at Culvers. It was a good trip.

Here are some photos from the trip - 1. Reagan on Mother's Day; 2. Reagan and dad at ND; 3. Play Ball at the Indians game; 4. Oh no, Grandma; 5. Taking a break; 6. Grandpa, higher; 7. It was a busy weekend and I am tired.

Try to get past Reagan's hair. She is in this stage where it is wild. I might have to think about a haircut for her at some point, but that is hard for me since I was bald until I was six and do not want her to have to go through all I went through. Looking at me now, you would never know I did not have hair until so late in life - that might be the reason I keep my big hair! Everyone thinks it was because of the influential years I spent in Texas, but now you know the real story.

p.s. - Yes, Marissa is off the show. It sets up a great finale on Monday night. I still want Jason to win, but I think it will be Kristi. It will be lots of fun though.

Marissa Has To Go

This is going to be short, but Marissa has to go tonight on Dancing With The Stars. She was not good at all last night and I don't think her tears can save her tonight.

We are back from Ohio. I will post some photos later tonight or tomorrow.

100th Episode Show

Thankfully it rained last night and my tennis match was cancelled so I could watch Dancing With The Stars (not to mention that I am still sore from the weekend). It was a bonus package last night as the first hour was the best dances in the show's history and the second hour was the reunion and the elimination.

I really enjoyed the Best Dances show. It shows how far the dancers have come from season one to now. When they showed Kelly Monaco's perfect dance, I just laughed because she had three or four major errors in it. If should would have done that dance this year, she would have received 7s at best. It was fun to see Helio and Julianne's QuickStep which is still my favorite dance of all time, as well as Apolo and Julianne's QuickStep from Season 4. And then any dance with Maks is amazing. He is the only guy where I actually watch the guy because he is just an unbelievable dancer. His hip action is awesome.

In the second hour, I have to say I loved Apolo and Julianne's dance to the Rascal Flatt's song, but, wow, was it steamy. That will definitely get the rumor mill flying again because there was definitely something there. It was breathtaking though and reminds me how much they need to pair Julianne with a good partner because she is definitely the highlight of the show.

As for the results part, I knew Jason would be in the bottom two for drama sake, although I am pretty sure he was not really in the bottom two. Shocking about Marissa staying. That shouldn't have happened, but as soon as it was announced that she was staying, the look on Karina's face said it all. She knew they were toast. That is fine. They were boring.

Onto the semifinals next week...go Jason!

One other thing of note...the Baby Jesus broke up that no hitter last night in the ninth. He might have to take today off to celebrate.

Happy 100th Dancing With The Stars

The show was OK last night. A lot of good dances, led by Jason and Edyta's first dance and Mario and Karina's first dance. Kudos also go to Cheryl who chorographed two amazing dances for her injured partner. She and Christian were really good - definitely the best of the night. Kristi was solid again. That leaves Marissa....

Even though Marissa got high scores, she needs to go this week. She is the definitely the worst dancer of the group, and although I appreciate her bubbly personality and her smile, she has made it far enough. Let the real competition begin with the people who can really dance.

To prove this show is fixed, this week my prediction for the other member of the bottom two is Jason and Edyta. Since they have not been in the bottom two yet this year, it is time for this to happen just to increase the drama and raise the stakes going into the semifinals next week. Jason and Edyta's first dance was my favorite of the night and that dress she had on...she is awesome. They stil are the ones to beat, along with Mark and Kristi.

Mark and Kristi were good, although I agree the second dance was a little rough. Unfortunately, Mark really showed up Kristi in that dance and it was very apparent who the profession and who the amateur was. They still are great and will be in the finals.

Mario and Karina were good, although Mario was too wild in the second dance. I really liked the first dance though. They really do make a nice couple - no, I am not starting more rumors.

Christian and Cheryl were really good. First of all, anyone who would wear a sparkly arm band on their arm deserves props (although you know someone in the NBA will be wearing that next week). Second, I thought Cheryl did a really great job of hiding that injury. They should be commended for what they did.

I will also admit that I am really surprised that Christian is still in the competition since he was a total unknown. There is no doubt he is the most improved dancer on the show this year. I also think that it helps he is with Cheryl since she is a fan favorite - I personally think she is annoying when she dances because she looks so intense. Her facial expressions are hilarious.

I am going to miss the show tonight, which bums me out since it is the 100th episode of the show and all of my favorites are going to be on including Helio, Maks and Julianne. Hopefully, I can watch it on abc.com tomorrow.

Weekend Update

I finally have something to report about me. It was a busy weekend as I had to work and also played in a tennis tournament. We had a Special Olympics event on Saturday morning that I was a part of, and then tennis legend Tracy Austin was here for some clinics on Sunday and did an interview for me.

Anyway...the big news of the weekend was my tennis tournament. I played in the Sandy Dyer Open which is a big fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I try to play in it every year because it is the biggest tournament in our Section, but also it is a great cause and the people do such an awesome job with it. I was entered in women's doubles with my friend Dee and mixed doubles with my friend Boy. Three days and seven matches later (including four in a row on Sunday), Boy and I won the championship and Dee and I placed second (we should have won). It was really fun on both ends and a big thanks to both of them for playing with me.

The other thing of note is that Boy is 73 years old, so for us to win was pretty exciting. He is like the Energizer Bunny as he can get to any ball. He was covering all of the lobs over my head and played great. We finally won the tournament after finishing second three years ago when I was pregnant with Reagan. He has asked me to play every year since our second-place finish and I was always busy, but this year it worked out and we won!

Of course, here I had played all this tennis (and trust me when I say I am not in shape to be playing seven matches in a weekend, let alone four in a row) and all I wanted was to take a bath to soak my muscles (or fat which is what it really is). So I get up this morning, turn on the water and it is ice cold. The water heater had gone out! I was so mad, but that is so typical of my life.

Reagan and Andrew had a nice weekend together. They went to the Twins game on Friday night and then Saturday joined me for the Special Olympics event and the auction and dinner at the tournament. Yesterday, they went swimming and then hung out the rest of the afternoon.

That was our weekend.

Dancing with the Stars tonight! Can't wait. We are also getting ready to head to Ohio to see Andrew's side of the family for Mother's Day. We are going to Chicago on Thursday night, then South Bend and Norwalk Friday to do it all over again on Sunday night. Ugh!
