Lisa And The Next Vice President?

I was looking at some photos the other day and came across this photos of me and Minnesota govenor Tim Pawlenty, who is the leading candidate to be John McCain's running mate. He did his live radio show from a tennis event I was doing last year and then I got him to come on the court and play tennis with all the kids.

He is a really great guy - super down to earth and very, very smart. He is someone that I would love to go have a beer with and talk hockey. He is awesome! I hope McCain picks him although I just cannot see him swinging the vote. Who knows though. He has been getting a lot of pub lately.

You can see his form on the court as well! He is just a regular Joe playing tennis that now could be Vice President! Pretty cool!

The Mushetts and Ed McMahon

I am sure you have all heard about Ed McMahon and his wife hitting every talk show out there telling their sad story about how they are going to have to move out of their $6.4 million home because they cannot afford it, and he cannot get a job, etc. Well, Andrew and I might be right there with them with everything that is breaking down and malfunctioning in our lives.

The latest is Andrew's car. It is going to be $2500 to fix that. It is not even worth that much and we hardly paid that much for it. The cable and internet also broke on Thursday, although they did get that fixed on Saturday (loose wire) and we found a mouse in our house on Saturday (it is finally nice outside - live there!) .

Other than all that drama, the weekend was fine. With no car, cable or computer (or money for that matter), we thought it would be interesting to see how many things we could do without having to pay. We did pretty good. Went to the dog park, took Reagan to the park, went to the Eagan Art Festival, went to the Lynx game, went to church, went swimming and played tennis twice. Not bad. We also managed to get free lunch when we stopped at Home Depot to get foam to plug up the holes we thought the mouse (and I am sure his many friends) might be living in.

Nothing too exciting this week. Andrew has a hockey game and a Lynx game and I am going to the US Women's Golf Championship - all for free. Reagan has her first birthday party on Saturday for her "boyfriend" Dominick. He is 5 - going for the older men already. Way to go!

Here is a photo of Reagan and daddy from the Art Festival.

Weekend Update - Reagan's Garden

Reagan decided she wanted a garden this weekend so we went and bought her a little garden. Come to find out "garden" in her vocabulary actually means "watering can." We could have saved ourselves a lot of money if we would have figured out that all she really wanted was the $3 watering can so she could be like "Marcy" (Marcy is her daycare provider).

Anyway... once she got home, she did want to water her garden - every 20 minutes. So I am sure that her garden will be dead from drowning in a few days, but in the meantime, she is pretty cute watering it. Maybe the novelty will wear off and I was able to use her as an excuse to buy some flowers for our patio since Andrew thinks they are a waste of money!

Not much else to report from the weekend. We had our first outdoor swimming day yesterday (are you kidding me - it is June 15?) and it was still freezing when you were not in the water. We also made homemade ice cream for Father's Day that turned out pretty good once we got it to firm up. Andrew played hockey last night to cap off his Father's Day so I think that made him happy - at least until he took a penalty in the final minute of play and the other team scored in overtime to win.

The other big event from the weekend is our neighbor has a rottweiler and it gets pretty excited/out of control whenever Corby and I walk by to go to the park. Well yesterday, the dog got so excited that it jumped on the upper bedroom window at its house and shattered the window trying to get Corby. I have not determined if this dog is mean or not, but I was not about to find out. I ran my out-of-shape #^$&*%( (this is a family blog after all) back to my house so fast. Thankfully Corby is fatter than me so, and he can only go so fast or I would have died right there. The dog never left the house, but he completely shattered the window. Ugh! That dog needs to be gone. I did call the police, but because he did not leave the property, they could not do anything about it. Scary!

Fargo Ferris Wheel

Here is the photo I promised of the ferris wheel inside the Scheels store in Fargo. Pretty cool. Pictured with me is my friend, Hayley, who I work with. She lives in Fargo so she can ride it whenever she wants, but it was her first ride as well! It is 45-feet tall and you can see the entire store from it. It was really cool! They said that a lot of prom and wedding people come in to get their photos taken on it. There are only two other ones in the United States - Omaha and a new 60-foot one going up in Reno at the Scheels store there.

Also is another photo of Hayley and me at the Tennis Block Party. Brrrrrr! It was June 10 for crying out loud! Can you believe it?

Working Toward The Weekend

It is Friday at 4:30 p.m., and for the first time in forever, we have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend. I am not sure what we will do. We are never in this position so I don't know if we can even handle it. I am sure I will get bored since I hate sitting around. I am actually thinking about reading a book (I know that will never happen, but I at least thought about it.) My big plan tonight is I have to go to Fleet Farm and get dog food for Corby!

We do have a couple of things on the schedule. My friend Lexie graduated from high school so we have her open house on Saturday night and then Andrew has a hockey game on Sunday.

It was a busy week. Andrew had a hockey game on Monday night to start summer league. He moved up to Level 2 so he wasn't sure what to expect. His team won 7-2 and he scored a goal (a nice one at that), so he was pretty happy. His team has about 4 1/2 lines worth of players so he is not too excited about that since it cuts down on his playing time. His team also took a lot of penalties in the first game which also cut into his time. He just needs to get on the penalty kill unit so he can play more!

Also, on Monday... gas hit $4 for the first time ever! Ugh!

I had to go to Fargo for work on Tuesday. We did a Tennis Block Party at a local sporting goods store there. It was cold and windy, but we did have a lot of kids. The store - Scheels - had a 45- foot ferris wheel inside so I did go on that. I am waiting for the photos and will post as soon as I get them.
Wednesday we had dinner with Sara, Andy and Crystal - sort of a post wedding get together. Andy and Reagan played Frogger and Dig Dug all night (flashback to my childhood days) as you can see in the photo.

Thursday Andrew had Lynx and Reagan and I went to watch my tennis team play. It was a gorgeous night - which we have not had many of this summer - so it was nice. Reagan though has been having trouble falling asleep since we have taken away the passie. Last night, she finally fell asleep at 11 p.m. Honestly, it was not one of my better parenting nights as she had cookies for dinner and did not go to sleep until 11! I am on the Britney Spears track.

Here are a few new photos of Reagan. Have a good weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

p.s. - Today is a terribly sad day with the death of Tim Russert. He was one of my favorites and the best in the business. So talented and smart, but good natured and realistic. It is hard to be like that in his line of work. I cannot believe God took him from this earth before he could see if Barack could complete his miracle run. He will be dearly missed and my Sunday morning's will never be the same.

More photos of Reagan

I thought I would post more photos of Reagan since I really have nothing to talk about. The weekend was quiet as we went swimming on Friday night, Reagan and I worked at the tennis junior sectionals on Saturday. We then went to the mall and out to dinner and Sunday we went to the Saints game, followed by more tennis and the Lynx game. It was very quiet.

The first photo is of Reagan and daddy with the Backyardigans at the Mall of America. She loves characters from far away, but once we get close up, it is too scary and does not last long.

This is a photo of Reagan at the Mac store. I had to get my ipod fixed so she just sat down and started playing some computer game. She knew what she was doing so I just let her sit there!

This is Reagan and Anna - her friend she met at the tennis tournament. They played the whole time while Anna's brother and sister played in the tournament. Thanks to Anna for "babysitting" her while I worked!

Summer hockey starts for Andrew tonight. He is pretty excited about it.

Camera Shy Diva!

Here are some new photos of Reagan. She has decided she hates getting her picture taken, so these are the best I can do. Nothing really new to report. Hope everyone is having a great summer.

The little diva with her purse, cell phone and cool shades!

Excuse the cheese in her mouth, but this was the only way I could get her to even look at me. She has to have string cheese every morning for breakfast.

Don't look at me (my face looks so fat), but I finally got her to smile!
